War Hawks Dominate Gents, Winning Big 52-6

SHREVEPORT, LA – The McMurry War Hawks put on an absolute clinic on the road this past Saturday, defeating the Centenary Gents 52-6 to move their record to 4-3 overall and maintain a perfect 3-0 in conference play. It was a complete effort that saw the offense explode for 637 yards of total offense while the defense stifled the Gents throughout the day.

The Air Raid Flies High

The War Hawks' passing attack was simply unstoppable, racking up an astonishing 473 yards through the air. Quarterback Dylan Plake delivered one of the best performances of the season, completing 24 of 32 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

The chief beneficiary of Plake's aerial assault was wide receiver Thomas Chandler, who had an explosive day, hauling in 11 receptions for 205 yards and a touchdown—including a 21-yard score just before halftime. Omari Johnson also found the end zone early in the second quarter on a 29-yard strike from Plake. Karmelus Card proved to be an elite deep threat, pulling in a 73-yard touchdown pass that helped break the game wide open in the third quarter.

The rushing attack provided balance to the explosive offense, totaling 164 yards. Glenn Rice led the backfield with 35 yards on six carries, while James Garza added 33 yards. The scoring on the ground came from quarterback Dylan Plake, who plunged in from 4 yards out, and Nyles Hullaby, who found paydirt on a 15-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

Defensive Lockdown & Game-Changing Plays

While the offense put points on the board, the defense was dominant, holding the Gents to just six points and 289 total yards. The pressure was constant, resulting in eight sacks. Defensive leaders in the sack category included Bryce Neves with two, and one each from Ty Williams, Cooper Barnard, Dorian LeBlanc, Jackson Harris, and J. Edwards.

The biggest defensive play of the day came in the third quarter when McMurry's Star Playmaker Dylon Davis delivered a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown, giving the War Hawks a massive 42-6 advantage. Linebacker Tyler Johnson led the team in tackles with five total (four solo, one assist). Kaleb Martinez, Dylan Gass, and Dylon Davis each added four tackles.

The kicking game was solid, with Jax Rodriguez connecting on a 28-yard field goal and hitting 6 of his 7 PAT attempts.

This victory continues the War Hawks' momentum as they head into their next conference clash at home against Texas Lutheran on Saturday, November 1, at 6:00 p.m.
