IRVING – McMurry moved to 2-1 on the season with a 1-0 non-conference victory at the University of Dallas.
Â
The War Hawks got the lone goal in the 80
th minute from
Nick Munoz with an assist from
Landyn Snider.
Â
"It was just what we needed," said McM assistant coach Lorenzo Segura. "After last night's match we needed to learn from it and be better. That's exactly what we did. We focused on us, our style of play and how we want to control the game and create chances. It was an all-around team effort from everyone, not getting frustrated and continuing to push, knowing the goal would come and it did. It is tough playing two games within 24 hours, so we are proud of the team for bouncing back and getting the job done. Now we shift our focus to our next two matches and continue building from today's win getting better every game. We are on the right track but we continue to work."
Â
McMurry made the most of their three shots on the game with
Jovani Burnett and
Dylan Christian taking the other two. Christian had the team's only other shot on goal.
Â
The War Hawk defense limited UD to six shots with
Jonathan Garcia turning away all five shots on goal for the shutout.
Â
McMurry returns to action at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday when they take on Howard Payne in Brownwood.
