BROWNWOOD – McMurry and Howard Payne played to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.
 
McMurry fell behind in the first half, 1-0, but got the equalizer from Herbie Martinez in the 57^th minute with an assist from Landyn Snider. It was the first goal of the season for Martinez and Snider's second assist.
 
The Yellow Jackets launched 13 shots to McMurry's seven but Brandon Walker had four saves for the War Hawks.
 
Arik Phillips and Pedro Yanez led McM with two shots each and each had a shot on goal.
 
The War Hawks return to action at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in Belton, taking on Mary-Hardin Baylor.
