PLAYER OF THE WEEK- OFFENSE: Jess Hoel, a sophomore from Abernathy, was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row on Monday. He completed 18 of 27 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns as the War Hawks picked up a 31-10 conference victory over Texas Lutheran. It was the third consecutive game Hoel has finished with three touchdown passes without an interception.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SPECIAL TEAMS: Jax Rodriguez, a freshman kicker from Lago Vista, Texas, was a perfect 4-of-4 on extra points and drilled a 52-year field goal in the win over TLU. That earned him SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Rodriguez also was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

NOSE TO THE LOOSE BALL: McMurry has recovered five fumbles this season That mark leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and is third in NCAA Division III. Those five loose balls have been covered by five different War Hawks:

HOEL LEADING: Quarterback
Jess Hoel leads the SCAC and is 33rd nationally in passing efficiency at 172.1. He also leads the conference and is 23rd in Division 3 in passing yards (764) and passing TDs (9) with no interceptions. McMurry is one of 25 D-3 teams without a thrown interception this season. Hoel leads the SCAC and is 41st nationally with 267.7 yards of total offense per game.

THREATS: Kristopher Martin and
Kason O'Shields are Nos. 1 and 3 in the SCAC in receiving yards per game. Martin averages 81.3 yards and O'Shields gets 63.3 yards per game. O'Shields and
Thomas Chandler lead the SCAC with three TD catches. O'Shields is 12th in Division 3 with 27.14 yards per reception.

TURNOVERS: The War Hawks are fourth nationally with a 2.67 turnover margin and fifth in the country with 10 turnovers gained this season. In addition to the five fumble recoveries, McM has five interceptions. Tim Leatherman is second in the nation with three interceptions.

SCOUTING AC: The Kangaroos are 0-3 after falling to Centenary in their conference opener last week, 36-17. Austin College is playing its third consecutive home game after losses to Rhodes and the Gents. Jess Talton has passed for 470 yards and four touchdowns this season while Zyan Stewart leads the ground game with 216 yards rushing on 49 totes. Brady Dygert leads the defense with 24 tackles and one fumble recovery.
