ABILENE – McMurry won its first-ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference set, but couldn't take the match from Austin College on Thursday, falling 3-1.
 
The War Hawks came out swinging well, posting a .244 attack percentage in the first set for a 25-21 win. The Kangaroos took the next three, 25-11, 25-15, 25-11.
 
Jacee Dinkins led McMurry with eight kills. Carli Colbert had a double-double with 13 assists and 14 digs. Ashlyn Quillan had 11 assists.
 
Hannah Page led the defense with 18 digs with Dinkins adding 11.
 
The War Hawks are back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, hosting Centenary.
