TLU and McMurry stand together at 1-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with the Bulldogs coming in at 2-0 while the War Hawks stand at 1-1.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK- OFFENSE: Jess Hoel, a sophomore from Abernathy, was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. He passed for three touchdowns and 274 yards. He completed 67 percent of his passes without an interception, going 18 of 27. He averaged 10.1 yards per attempts and had an efficiency rating of 188.6. He also rushed for 35 yards.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DEFENSE: Tim Leatherman, a senior from Ingram, was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He intercepted two passes and returned both for McMurry touchdowns for a total of 83 yards in the win over Lyon. He also had five tackles in the game. Leatherman is one of three players in Division 3 with three interceptions this season.
 
HOEL LEADING: Quarterback Jess Hoel leads the SCAC and is 31^st nationally in passing efficiency at 174.4. He also leads the conference and is 15^th in Division 3 in passing yards (569) and passing TDs (6). McMurry is one of 44 D-3 teams without a thrown interception this season.
 
THREATS: Kristopher Martin and Kason O'Shields are Nos. 1 and 2 in the SCAC in receiving yards per game. Martin averages 89.5 yards and O'Shields gets 88.5 yards per game. O'Shields leads the league and is 13^th in the nation with three touchdown receptions. Thomas Chandler is second in the SCAC with two TD catches.
 
TAKEAWAYS: With six takeaways this season, McMurry is ninth in Division 3 and first in the SCAC. The War Hawks also are 10^th nationally in turnover margin at 2.0. The War Hawks are second in the nation with two defensive touchdowns.
