McMurry University's Lady War Hawks beat Concordia University 74-67 Saturday, Feb. 17 in Austin.

The win coupled with East Texas Baptist University's loss to University of Texas-Dallas means McMurry, which finished as the fourth-place team, will host a first-round American Southwest Conference tournament game Tuesday! Details to be announced so stay tuned to mcmurrysports.com.

In Saturday's game, junior guard/forward Emily Holland (Mansfield, Texas) was top scorer with 21 points, followed by sophomore guard Kylie Flippin (Wichita Falls, Texas) and sophomore forward/center Aryana Cleveland (San Antonio, Texas) with 14 each, and junior post Katie Hale (Decatur, Texas) with 11.

Coach Drew Long's team led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter, but the opponent won the second quarter 24-15 and led at halftime 37-34. The visitors regrouped at halftime and took the third quarter 26-14. The opponent won the fourth quarter 16-14.

McMurry made 12 three-pointers with five by Holland, four by Flippin, two by Hale and one by sophomore guard Helana Chadwick (La Vernia, Texas). At the free-throw line, Holland was 2 of 2, Cleveland was 2 of 4, junior post Ashton Garner (Odessa, Texas) was 1 of 2 and Hale was 1 of 4. Hale led in rebounds with eight, four on offense and four on defense. Chadwick and Cleveland had five assists apiece. The Lady War Hawks had four steals with one theft each by Holland, Chadwick, Hale, and Cleveland. Flippin blocked two shots and Garner and Hale each blocked one.

McMurry finished the regular season with a 16-9 overall record and conference slate of 10-6.
