ABILENE, Texas - After two years in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, the McMurry University War Hawks are returning to their roots. The university has officially released its 2026-2027 women's basketball schedule, marking the program's anticipated return to the American Southwest Conference (ASC).

"We are excited about this group and the potential they have. We have a young team that is eager to learn, compete, and grow together. Ashlynn Galvan, Briley Waters, and J'Lee Sloan provide some valuable experience and leadership, and we are excited to see how this group develops throughout the season," said head coach Laura Lange.

The War Hawks will get their first test of the year on the road with an early exhibition against Sam Houston on November 2, before returning to Kimbrell Arena to host Austin College on November 6.

December opens with a prominent crosstown exhibition matchup against Abilene Christian University at Moody Coliseum on December 1. The team then heads on a significant West Coast road trip, facing California Lutheran University on December 13, Chapman University on December 15, and Occidental College on December 16.

After returning from California, the War Hawks will settle in for a five-game homestand to wrap up the calendar year and ring in 2027, hosting Willamette, Illinois Tech, Olivet, Trine, and UC Santa Cruz at Kimbrell Arena.

McMurry will officially kick off its highly anticipated ASC return on January 14 by traveling across town to face rival Hardin-Simmons University at the Mabee Complex.

The War Hawks host their first ASC home contests at Kimbrell Arena at the end of the month, welcoming East Texas Baptist University on January 28 and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on January 30. The regular season concludes at home on February 18 in a highly anticipated rematch against Hardin-Simmons, setting the stage for the ASC Tournament starting on February 25.
