HSU Holds Off War Hawks

ABILENE – McMurry stormed out of the gate early but Hardin-Simmons claimed a 3-1 win in the crosstown rivalry volleyball game on Tuesday.
 
The War Hawks scored the first five points of the match and went on to take the opening set 25-19 before falling in the next three, 25-21, 25-14, 25-15.
 
Jennika Willis led McM with seven kills with Carli Colbert racking up 14 assists. Hannah Page and Colbert had two aces each.
 
Rylie Patterson had four blocks to lead the front-row defense with Jacee Dinkins picking up 13 digs while Page and Colbert added 11 each.
 
The War Hawks return to action on Friday with the start of the SCAC Crossover Tournament in Kimbrell Arena. McM plays Texas Lutheran at 6 p.m. and finishes up with Saturday matches against Concordia and Schreiner at 1 and 7 p.m.
