ABILENE – The McMurry cross country teams are back on the course on Friday, visiting Clinton, Mississippi for Mississippi College's Watson Collegiate Classic at Choctaw Trails.

The men's 8K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the women's 6K at 8:45 on an all-grass course.

The War Hawks last raced on Oct. 5 in the Old Glory Gallop hosted by Dallas Baptist University.

The McM men placed 21st among 41 teams with 647 points and an average time of 27:00.8 on the eight-kilometer course. Division II power East Central won the meet with 37 points, edging Cal Poly Pomona.

Gabriel Sanchez led the War Hawk men in 99th at 26:11, followed by
Isaac Gonzales in 142nd at 26:54.
Rogelio Ramirez was 153rd at 27:02,
Jeremiah Rodriguez was 179th at 27:22 and
Roman Perez rounded out the scoring at 27:35 in 197th place.

Patrick Esparza finished in 27:53 and
Marcos Tellez finished in 28:33. Also for McMurry, Eduardo Garcia finished in 31:05 and
Victor Leos in 31:09.

The McMurry women's team placed 18th of 45 teams with 638 points and an average time of 19:39.8 on the five-kilometer trail. Rice won the women's team title with 31 points.

Savanna Danner paced the women's team in 19:00 in 79th place, followed by
Chloe McLellan in 103rd at 19:13.
Ashley Shea was 161st at 19:51,
Katelyn Hernandez was 198th at 20:22 and
Anna Dinaso finished out the scoring in 240th in 20:56.

Abigail Huffhines finished in 22:09 and
Jocelyn Moreno came in at 22:29. Also for McMurry,
Madison Soultanova finished in 23:43.

McMurry's women placed third and the men placed fifth at this event last season. Danner was 11
th to lead the War Hawk women.
