Box Score McMurry University's Lady War Hawks beat Howard Payne University 81-70 Thursday, Jan. 25 in Brownwood.

Junior guard/forward Emily Holland (Mansfield, Texas) led with 26 points, followed by sophomore guard Kylie Flippin (Wichita Falls, Texas) with 23, and senior guard/forward Taya Bridges (Mesquite, Texas), sophomore guard Helana Chadwick (La Vernia, Texas) and sophomore forward/center Aryana Cleveland (San Antonio, Texas), all with nine each.

Coach Drew Long's team had complete control of the first half, winning the first quarter 25-10 and the second 19-13.

The second half was a different story as the Lady War Hawks won the third quarter 22-21 and was outscored 26-15 in the fourth. McMurry hit seven three-pointers with four by Holland, two by Flippin and one by Chadwick. At the freethrow line, Holland was a perfect 8 of 8, Flippin was 5 of 6, Chadwick was a perfect 2 of 2 and Cleveland was 3 of 5. Cleveland led in rebounding with 11, two on offense and nine on defense.

The Lady War Hawks stole the ball 12 times with Bridges and Flippin having three apiece, Chadwick and Holland adding two each, and senior guard/forward Kristin Salas (Pipe Creek, Texas) and Cleveland contributing one apiece.

The visitors blocked five shots. Junior post Katie Hale (Decatur, Texas) and Cleveland had two each, and Holland added one.

McMurry, 13-6 overall and 8-3 in the American Southwest Conference, plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sul Ross State University in Alpine
