MCMURRY TOPPED AT LETU

LONGVIEW, TEXAS – A strong front line performance out of the upperclasswoman tandem of senior middle/right side hitter Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas) and junior outside hitter Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) highlighted a weekend American Southwest Conference trip Friday, Sept. 29.

Dinkins' sparkling 2023 kept on rolling along at LeTourneau University's Solheim Arena. She pounded 15 kills with only three errors in 35 attempts against the Yellow Jackets' defense. It was the seventh time this season she's recorded a .200 or higher attack percentage (.343). The junior also moved over 150 kills on the season. Tiffin was above .200 offensively for the eighth time in 2023, garnering six kills at a .214 rate while also leading the net defense with two block assists.

McMurry kept their hosts in sight throughout the evening, but LeTourneau managed to hold them off for a 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 sweep. Head coach Cammie Petree's team battled back from an early six-point deficit in set one, closing to within one; climbed within eight in the second set after trailing 20-9; and led 3-1 out of the gate in set three before going back and forth until the late stages.

Freshman setter Allison Montoya (Fort Worth, Texas) continued a solid start to her collegiate career, compiling 14 assists, four service aces and five digs. Senior defensive specialist/libero Addie Leal (Clute, Texas) tallied a team-best 21 digs for her 11th successive double-figure outing.

The Maroon and White conclude a short two-match road trip, visiting Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas Tuesday, Oct. 3. First serve is 6 p.m. at SU's Event Center.
