KERRVILLE, TEXAS – Freshman outside hitter
Zoe Aldrich (Fredericksburg, Texas) and junior outside hitter
Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) led a hard-nosed offensive attack for McMurry University Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Aldrich, turning in a single-match career personal best in kills (14) and doing so to the tune of an impressive .256 attack percentage, guided head coach
Cammie Petree's team inside Schreiner University's Events Center. Dinkins registered her fifth double-digit kill total over her last eight appearances (12). Those performances were just part of the Maroon and White story, as senior middle/right side hitter
Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas) (eight kills, .333 attack percentage) had a big evening and freshman outside/right side hitter
Jennika Willis (Abilene, Texas), in her first outing of the season, tallied five kills and a .250 attack percentage. McMurry totaled 50 successful offensive attacks in the four-set clash, the third time this season they've been at or above the mark, against the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Mountaineers, giving their hosts all they could handle in a 25-18, 25-22, 27-29, 25-21 SU win.
Fueling the front line offense hammering away at the home defense was the setter duo of junior Ashlynn Quillan (Van Alstyne, Texas) and freshman
Allison Montoya (Fort Worth, Texas). Quillan put up 27 assists, and Montoya supplied 13 more. On the defensive side of the equation, McMurry didn't make it easy for Schreiner to find open spots for points, as senior defensive specialist/libero Addie Leal (Clute, Texas) (28 digs) led four individuals with 10-or-more, joining junior defensive specialist/libero
Hannah Page (Lubbock, Texas) (18), Dinkins (17) and Quillan (12).
McMurry (1-15) returns to its home Kimbrell Arena floor Friday, Oct. 6. They continue 2023 American Southwest Conference action with a 6 p.m. first serve against East Texas Baptist University.
