BELTON, TEXAS – Junior outside hitter
Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) produced her seventh double-digit kill effort, leading McMurry University in American Southwest Conference action Saturday, Sept. 23.
Dinkins, for the third time in 2023, wrapped up back-to-back matches of successful double-digit offensive attacks. She wound up the contest with Mary Hardin-Baylor finding the Mayborn Student Center floor 12 times with only three errors in 39 attempts for a .281 attack percentage. Sophomore outside hitter
Shaely Rogers (Bandera, Texas) was next in line for head coach
Cammie Petree's offense with five kills and a .308 attack percentage.
UMHB kept its fast season start going behind a steady dose of service aces (12) and front-line defense (eight total blocks). Those two factors sparked a 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 triumph.
Looking further into the War Hawks numbers, a familiar trio aided in the visiting battle. Senior defensive specialist/libero Addie Leal (Clute, Texas) (16 digs, one service ace, six assists); junior setter
Ashlyn Quillan (Van Alstyne, Texas) (12 assists, one service ace, eight digs); and freshman setter
Allison Montoya (Fort Worth, Texas) (10 assists) were part of the story, too.
McMurry (1-12, 0-3 ASC) returns to Kimbrell Arena Tuesday, Sept. 26, to host crosstown league rival Hardin-Simmons. First serve is 6 p.m.
NOTE: Dinkins turned in her sixth match with a .200-or-better attack percentage this year.
