JACKSON, MISS. – Junior forward
Emily Holland picked up right where she left off at the end of 2022.
Head coach
Charles Nobles' standout offensive scholar-athlete from Mansfield, Texas, dished off three assists and made herself comfortable near Huntingdon College's goal throughout the 90 minutes of McMurry University's season opener. She fired eight shots as part of a relentless Maroon and White wave that held a 31-4 attempts advantage en route to a rousing 4-0 victory on Millsaps College's Harper Davis Field.
Holland's three assists, tied for second-most in a match in program history, found the feet of junior defender
Haylie Blakley (Allen, Texas), sophomore midfielder
Alexis Lira (North Richland Hills, Texas), and freshman midfielder
Madison Black (Granbury, Texas) for goals. Blakley's score, her first War Hawks' match decider, helped make a winner out of senior netminder
Cortlynn Boone (Argyle, Texas). Boone joined freshman
Avery Anders (Abilene, Texas) and sophomore
Lauren Marlow (Flower Mound, Texas) to collect a shutout with two combined saves.
Junior defender
Jenna Barouh (Lake Oswego, Oregon) claimed a goal, too, for the blitzkrieg. Her four shot attempts were tied with Black and junior forward/midfielder
Jaelynn Portillo (Grand Prairie, Texas) for second-most.
