JACKSON, MISS. – A juggernaut second-half offensive attack guided McMurry University on Sunday, Sept. 3.
The War Hawks, trailing host Millsaps College 1-0 at the break on the Harper Davis Field pitch, were as relentless in the Majors' portion of the field as the summer heat and humidity rolling through the capitol city. Head coach
Charles Nobles' crew posted 11 strikes, with five on frame, while the defense kept the ball forward by shutting down any further home team advantage by not giving up a shot in the second 45 minutes toward a 2-1 victory.
Junior forward
Emily Holland (Mansfield, Texas) concluded a scintillating one-goal, four-assist weekend. She leveled the match at 1-1 with her 15
th career goal coming off a penalty-kick chance. Holland's yen for assists was brought into action in the 81
st minute. She found freshman forward
Kaylee Worth (Frisco, Texas) near the home team net, and Worth deposited the pass for the match-decider.
Holland led a 16-4 shot margin with nine total and four on goal. Worth was also in multiples, with two total and two on frame.
NOTES: Holland moved into fifth all-time in goals, points (39) and assists (nine) … The 2-0 season beginning is the program's best since the 2014 team opened 3-0.
