SHREVEPORT, LA. – An upperclasswoman combination of junior outside hitter
Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) and senior middle/right side hitter
Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas) topped some impressive opening day offensive numbers for McMurry University Friday, Sept. 1.
Dinkins rattled 21 kills at a spirited .271 attack pace, and Tiffin tagged 18 kills at a high-flying .444 rate for head coach
Cammie Petree's team during day one of the Centenary College Country Cajun Classic. Dinkins' single-match career-best 13 successful attempts against Southern Athletic Association foe Rhodes College in the second contest, and Tiffin's white-hot .611 attack percentage versus fellow American Southwest Conference member Howard Payne University in the day's first contest headlined their efforts.
After a 3-0 setback at the hands of HPU in the first tourney clash, Petree's crew gave the Lynx all they could handle in their second outing. After dropping 25-21,25-12 scores in the first two sets, the Maroon and White responded, battling to 26-24, 25-23 victories to force a fifth and deciding game. Rhodes dashed their match victory chances, posting a critical 4-0 run midway toward a 15-10 decision.
Freshman setter/defensive specialist
Erin Fallon (Boerne, Texas) turned some heads in her first collegiate opportunity. She tallied a team-leading 20 assists and five service aces during the day. Senior libero/defensive specialist
Adile Leal (Clute, Texas) continued her march towards 1500 career digs with 26.
McMurry continues action at the Centenary tourney on Saturday, Sept. 2. They take on Millsaps College and Belhaven University.
