OFFENSIVE OUTPUT – WAR HAWKS SPLIT SERIES FINALE

ALPINE, TEXAS – A 17-run explosion over the last four at-bats sent McMurry University to a much-needed American Southwest Conference victory Friday, April 7.

Looking to snap out of a four-game slump, head coach Josh Lee's team bounced back from a tough 16-4 game one loss at the hands of Sul Ross State University at the Lobo's home Kokrenot Field. SRSU held a 2-1 lead through four innings towards a league sweep until the War Hawks bats went gangbusters.

Five War Hawks finished with multiple hits and RBI in the 18-6, eight-inning triumph. Sophomore outfielder Koy Carpenter (La Vernia, Texas) went four-for-five with four RBI; junior shortstop Blake Beach (Atascocita, Texas) crushed a home run as part of a three-hit, four-RBI outing; sophomore designated hitter Dylan Abbott (San Antonio, Texas) thumped two doubles among three hits and three RBI; sophomore third baseman Dylan Lee (Hutto, Texas) posted two singles and two RBI; and sophomore outfielder Carson Jones (San Antonio, Texas) tallied two hits and four RBI.

With all of that scoreboard input for the Maroon and White, sophomore Jonathan Enriquez (Galveston, Texas) was able to come right at the home team hitters. En route to his first victory of the season, he did so to the tune of three strikeouts, four earned runs, and four hits surrendered over five and a third innings.

McMurry (12-17 overall, 7-11 ASC) concludes four in a row on the road Tuesday, April 11. Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Texas Lutheran University welcomes them for a 4 p.m. non-conference meeting at Katt-Isbel Field in Seguin, Texas.
