McMurry University closed out an eastern Texas trip taking on Southwestern University's men and women and Cal Lutheran's women Saturday, March 18.

MCMURRY BATTLES REGIONAL POWERS

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – Freshman Jenna Vincent (San Angelo, Texas) and the doubles pairing of senior Hope Turner (Wills Point, Texas) and junior Hannah DeFriend (Groesbeck, Texas) gained wins to lead the way in non-conference action Saturday, March 18.
 
McMurry University's women fought against California Lutheran University and Southwestern University at SWU's Marvin D. Henderson Courts. The War Hawks were stopped by CLU 7-2 and the host Pirates 9-0. Versus their Golden State foes, Vincent earned a singles point at number three with a tiebreaker victory in the first and third set decisions, and Turner and DeFriend highlighted a 2-1 weekend in eastern Texas with an 8-6 triumph.
 
The Maroon and White men's squad was toppled by Southwestern 9-0. Senior number one singles player Reid Smith took his foe to a 6-4, 7-5 finish, while the senior-freshman doubles duo of Jason Cabe (Brownfield, Texas) and Ty Edwards (Brackettville, Texas) gained four game victories at number three to help headline the clash.
 
McMurry's men (4-9 overall, 0-1 ASC) and women (4-8, 0-1 ASC) are back in American Southwest Conference action Friday, March 24. They take a crosstown trip to Hardin-Simmons University for a 2 p.m. double dual.
