Emily Nuttall to register team points for McMurry University in American Southwest Conference dual action Friday, March 17.
Turner and DeFriend won an 8-7 thriller at number one doubles over Concordia University's top pairing of Kaitlin Stevens and Isabella Wiik. Nuttall had some flair for the dramatic in singles action for head coach
Chris Breaux's squad. She answered a 6-1 second set loss to CU's Natalia Goodman at number four with a rousing 10-3 triumph in the tiebreaker to go with her 6-4 set one victory.
In the wake of a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Tornadoes, there were more possibilities for the War Hawks.
McKenzie Carroll (Groesbeck, Texas) joined Nuttall for a narrow 8-5 loss at number three doubles and just missed a first-set victory in number five singles. DeFriend dropped a similar 7-6 finish in a set at number six.
Senior
Reid Smith (Pampa, Texas) and the doubles team of senior
Jason Cabe (Brownfield, Texas) and freshman
Ty Edwards (Brackettville, Texas) guided the men in a 9-0 loss to Concordia. Smith battled in a 6-4, 7-6 defeat at number one singles, while Cabe and Edwards were held off 8-5 at number three doubles.
McMurry continues its eastern Texas weekend excursion Saturday, March 18. They face off with Southwestern University in an 11 a.m. double-dual.
