Seniors Sutton Welch (Abilene, Texas) and Elizabeth Ryan (Early, Texas) kept up an impressive streak for McMurry University on the American Southwest Conference weekly honors. Their men's and women's Field Athlete of the Week accolades marked the third straight week head coach Cody Knight's programs had gained recognition.
 
Welch took home an event championship in the first outdoor meet of the season in the hammer throw at Hardin-Simmons Invitational on Feb. 25. He landed a throw 171 feet, 1 inch, which captured first by nearly eight feet. This is Welch's second Field Athlete of the Week award this season.

Ryan made a big impression on assistant coach Cody Brotherton's throwing group in the first outdoor meet of 2023. She won the hammer by over seven and a half feet and placed second to an NCAA Division I athlete in the discus by less than three and a half feet.
