Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DALLAS, TEXAS – A pair of goals scored less than six minutes apart in the latter stages of the first half made a winner out of McMurry University Sunday, Sept. 25.

Head coach Marquis Muse's War Hawks, improving to 2-4-2, spotted University of Dallas, hosts of the weekend classic, a 1-0 advantage in the 19^th minute. However, the visiting offense continued to charge at the home net and got two shots through from sophomore forward Danny Mendoza (Fort Worth, Texas) and sophomore midfielder Dylan Caudle (San Angelo, Texas) in the 26^th and 32^nd minutes for a 2-1 lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Griffin Cardwell (Plano, Texas) made it stand up with three saves in four UD shot on goal tries. Chavez's four total attempts and three strikes on frame topped the offense in a 19-11 shots advantage.

Muse's crew opened the weekend in the Big D with a draw against Centenary College of Louisiana Friday, Sept. 23. Freshman forward Armando Saldano (Wichita Falls, Texas), beginning a three-point trip, fellow freshman forward Jordan Katende (Saginaw, Texas) and senior forward Andres Martinez (Horizon City, Texas) each registered goals.

Trailing 2-1 in the second half, the scores from Katende and Martinez put McMurry up 3-2. They were on the verge of a 2-0 three-day stay until Centenary leveled the scoreboard in the 85^th minute.

American Southwest Conference action begins Saturday, Oct. 1. It's the annual Abilene Derby with a crosstown visit to Hardin-Simmons, along with the War Hawks women's side, for a 5 and 7:30 p.m. doubleheader.
