Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

McMurry Tennis falls to UT Dallas

ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University Tennis teams fell to UT Dallas on a warm Saturday afternoon at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The men (2-7) lost 8-1, while the women (3-5) suffered a 9-0 sweep against the Comets.

UTD men moved to 3-2 on the season, while the women remain undefeated at 4-0.

"Coming off of a doubleheader yesterday, the men had to dig deep and prepare themselves physically and mentally for the competitive play from the Comets," said head coach Chris Breaux. "We tried to get things going but couldn't quite execute. It's also been roughly a week since the women played in competition, so this was definitely a match that tested their physicality as well. We will bounce back in the days to come."

Earning the lone point for the McMurry men was doubles duo Connor Hogan and Dylan Bryant. The pair defeated Nick Boquet and Carlos De Leon at No. 2 doubles, 8-6.

In addition to Hogan and Bryant's doubles win, Ty Edwards and Jason Cabe came close to earning Flight 3 against Aryan Sharma and Mario Dominguez. The pair reached the five-point mark, but UTD would stamp the win in the end, 8-5.

Hope Turner and Hannah DeFriend would mimic the same efforts at Flight 1 doubles, falling short to Samantha Wong and Elyssa Ducret by an 8-5 decision.

McMurry will have back-to-back days of competition for its next outing, taking on Texas Permian Basin Friday, March 11, followed by Trinity (TX) on Saturday, March 12.  Both matches will be held in San Antonio. Friday's game is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday's match is set for 2 p.m.
