SHERMAN, TEXAS – McMurry University's men's and women's swimming squads turned in a combined five multiple individual-event victors Saturday, Dec. 3.'
For head coach Arthur Wang's women's side, it was the freshman trio of
Caitlyn Sauer (Anthem, Ariz.),
Maddy Rohrer (Auburn, Wash.), and
Kailey Dutcher (Monahans, Texas). Sauer took top honors in the 1000-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, and 200-yard backstroke. Rohrer placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle, and Dutcher was first in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley.
McMurry's men were led by sophomore
Caleb Bush (San Angelo, Texas) and freshman
Harrison Brown (Pasadena, Texas). Bush won the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke. Brown was an event champion in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
With those efforts leading the way, the War Hawks upended the Kangaroos 127-80 (women) and 151-85 (men). Dutcher ( women's 200-yard IM), freshman
Ryan Behrens (Burnet, Texas) (men's 1000-yard freestyle), and freshman
Grace Lee (Dripping Springs, Texas) (women's 50-yard freestyle) all registered season-best times during the afternoon, too.
McMurry concludes their 2022-23 fall section Friday, Dec. 16, traveling to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, for dual competition.
