GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – McMurry University's men's and women's swimming teams closed out the fall section of their 2022-23 season, battling Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference power Southwestern University in dual action Friday, Dec. 16.
Head coach Arthur Wang's War Hawks were topped by the Pirates 146-36 in the women's competition and 139-47 in the men's match-up. Three second-place marks were at the forefront for the Maroon, Black, and White.
Two of those finishes occurred on the women's side of the ledger. Freshmen
Grace Lee (Dripping Springs, Texas) and
Kailey Dutcher (Monahans, Texas) hit the pad in runner-up spots in the 100-yard freestyle (Lee – 60.44 seconds) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.55 – Dutcher). Sophomore
Caleb Bush (San Angelo, Texas) turned in the top men's effort. He took second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.27 seconds).
The War Hawks break from action over the Christmas and New Year's holidays. They are back in the pool meet-wise against NCAA Division II University of Texas-Permian Basin Saturday, Friday, Jan. 13, in their home finale, which also serves as Senior Day 2023.
