IMPRESSIVE OFFENSIVE OUTPUT LEADS TO WEEKEND SPLIT

A sparkling .199 team attack percentage guided McMurry University to a season sweep of Concordia University of Austin in American Southwest Conference action Friday, Oct. 7.

The War Hawks, stopping a four-match slide, turned in four individual marks of .250 or higher inside CU Fieldhouse. Junior middle/right side hitter Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas), resuming a glowing stretch of six straight matches in which she's been at or above .300 in offensive percentage, smashed eight kills at the Tornadoes' defense to go along with an assist, two block assists and two digs. Sophomore setter Ashlyn Quillan (Van Alstyne, Texas) (four kills - .429 attack pct.), sophomore middle hitter Bri Garcia (Abilene, Texas) (seven kills - .400 attack pct.), freshman middle hitter Chelsea Lewis (Houston, Texas) (three kills - .231 attack pct.) and freshman setter Lexi Miller (Abilene, Texas) (nine kills - .261 attack pct.) added to the difficulties for the home side in a 25-17, 25-16, 24-26, 25-22 War Hawks' victory.

Head coach Cammie Petree's squad hoped to notch a pair of weekend road triumphs facing off against Mary-Hardin-Baylor Saturday, Oct. 8. Another solid offensive outing, led by Tiffin (eight kills), Lewis and Miller (seven kills), kept the host Cru guessing. However, UMHB had two players with double-figure successful attacks and staggered their guests with seven service aces and 74 digs to capture a close-knit 25-21, 27-25, 25-17 decision.

McMurry (8-9 overall, 4-6 ASC) resume a seven-match road trip Tuesday, Oct. 11. First serve at Howard Payne University's Brownwood Coliseum is 6 p.m.
