ABILENE, TEXAS – The beat goes on for McMurry University's women's soccer team.
Amid a 5-1-2 stretch in their last eight appearances, the War Hawks' opponent didn't put a score up on the Wilford Moore Stadium board Saturday, Oct. 29. Head coach
Charles Nobles' defense has allowed only four goals in its last 720-minutes-plus.
Junior goalkeeper Priscella Caruso (Tomball, Texas) and her stalwart defensive backline blanked the Eagles on one shot on goal. Even with a large shots advantage of 21-1, McMurry's offense was stonewalled by an equally tenacious defensive unit and UO netminder Grace Houchin who turned in seven saves.
Sophomore forward Emily Holland (Mansfield, Texas) tried to deliver a win for a Class of 2023 group that included her sister, Kate, forward Kate Moore (Azle, Texas), defender Michelle Valentine (Grand Prairie, Texas) and midfielder
Honna Turner (Abilene, Texas) who played in their final regular season home contests. She delivered five total shots, three of which were on goal.
McMurry (7-5-4 overall, 5-2-2 ASC) hosts UT-Dallas in a rematch of a scoreless draw played on the War Hawks' home FieldTurf Oct. 27. A quarterfinal round clash in the 2022 league postseason tournament, it kicks off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.
