SEGUIN, Texas – McMurry Men's Soccer struggled to get things going offensively, suffering a 9-0 loss to Texas Lutheran Sunday afternoon in Seguin, Texas.
The War Hawks are now 2-4 on the season with one more non-conference matchup remaining before entering the conference portion of the schedule.
Today's matchup proved to be a defensive struggle for the War Hawks as they were not able to slow the Bulldog's attack on the ball. TLU posted six goals in the first half and tacked on three more in the second to close out the match.
The two teams combined for 35 total shots, 23 by TLU and 12 by McMurry. The Bulldogs put 14 shots directly on goal, while the War Hawks sent three tries at the net. McMurry also attempted four corner kicks as well.
Andres Martinez posted a season high six shots in the matchup, while
Kevin Serrano,
Preston Stal and
Herbie Martinez all contributed two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper
Orion Patterson recorded three saves through a tough 45 minutes of play.
Angel Salazar would enter at the half to close out the game with two additional saves for McMurry.
The War Hawks will head to Sherman, Texas on Sept. 21 to face Austin College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
