Men's soccer falls to Huston-Tillotson, 3-1

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry Men's Soccer suffered a tough loss at home, falling to non-conference opponent Huston-Tillotson, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Wilford Moore Stadium. 

The War Hawks move to (2-3) on the season and will have a shot at two more non-conference matchups before conference action begins.

McMurry would strike first in the 18th minute with a scoring header by Luis Lopez off the Andres Martinez assist. 

The Mighty Rams would answer back before the half, netting two back-to-back with just under six minutes remaining in the first half.

The War Hawks went into the second half more aggressive defensively, holding HTU to just two shot attempts and one corner kick. Despite a strong defensive stance, HTU would tack on another goal in the 82nd minute to secure the win.

Griffin Gayler led the team in total shots with four, while Santiago Nunez followed up with three. Lopez and Kevin Serrano both recorded two. Dylan Caudle and Danny Chavez also added a shot in the contest. 

The War Hawks finished with 13 shots, four on goal, while the Mighty Rams recorded 17 shots with nine on target.

McMurry had the corner kick advantage, recording 13 to HTU's two. 

Goalkeeper Orion Patterson registered six saves on the day through a tough 90 minutes of action.

The War Hawks have a quick turnaround as they will hit the road for a matchup against Texas Lutheran tomorrow afternoon. Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Seguin, Texas.
