ABILENE, Texas -- The McMurry University women's tennis team had a tough outing Saturday afternoon, dropping to NCAA Division II foe, University of Texas-Permian Basin, by a score of 8-1 at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. The War Hawks are now 3-4 overall while the Falcons improved to 3-6 on the year.
The Falcons claimed all three doubles matchups and earned five of the six singles contests.
"We really had to fight for every point," said head coach
Chris Breaux. "Unfortunately, the day just didn't fall in our favor. We definitely are looking to bounce back next week after such a tough loss."

Jasmin Klassen lost a heartbreaker in No. 2 doubles after pushing the set to a 9-7 decision.
In singles play, the Falcons earned five singles points by straight set defeats.
Coming away with McMurry's lone point on the day was Klassen. Klassen earned a straight set win over UTPB's Lea Mjertan, 6-3, 6-3.
Up next for the War Hawks is another non-conference showdown as they will take on Saint Mary's University (TX) next Saturday, March 20, in Abilene, Texas. Match play is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
