ABILENE, Texas -- The McMurry Men's Tennis team continued its win streak with a dominating 8-1 win over East Texas Baptist University Saturday.
The War Hawks powered through doubles play, claiming all three points to give McMurry an early 3-0 lead.
Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell earned a win in No. 1 doubles with an 8-5 mark against John Herr and Joseph Salinas.
In No. 2 doubles, sophomore Reid Smith and senior Joseph Diaz teamed up to sweep Christian Dubec and Noah Smistad, 8-0.
In a tight race to the end, duo Dylan Bryant and Connor Hogan emerged with the win over ETBU's Adam Morris and Randal Lemmon, 8-7 (9-7).
Martinez wins his third straight No. 1 singles match, beating ETBU's Joseph Salinas, 6-4, 6-2.
In a tight three-set battle, Smith snagged a win over Adam Morris, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Hogan pulled off a second set tie-breaker to earn the sixth point for McMurry.
For the second straight match, capturing the last two points for McMurry was Diaz and Chris Causer. Diaz finished with a 6-0, 6-3 mark while Causer tallied a 6-3, 6-3 win to close out the match.
McMurry (3-2) will close out the week with a matchup against Abilene Christian University at the Eager Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 28. Match play is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
