Men's swimming earns tally in split decision against Centenary

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – In its second meet of the season, McMurry Swimming brings home a split decision against Centenary College on Saturday in Shreveport, Louisiana.

For a second time this season, the men earned the tally for the War Hawks, taking down the Gents by a score of 168-69. The men remain undefeated this season and continue to add to the 4-0 streak from last spring's campaign.

"It's a continual pursuit of trying to be excellent in all facets of racing," said head coach Arthur Wang. "We are getting better and healthier every single day."

The men got off to hot start with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Anchored by senior Alec Satre, Bryce Borak, Logan Pritchett and Jeremiah Atkins finished first in 1:45.59.

In his first competition of the season, Satre followed up his relay performance with a top finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:17.42. In second was teammate Alec Feldhousen, who finished in 12:19.61. Satre later earned the top podium finish in the 100-yard free in 52.81.

Freshman Matthew Schloz continued his strong performance from the season opening dual against Austin College, finishing first in the 200-yard free in 1:57.29. Schloz also earned a top finish in the 500-free (5:26.84) and second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.22).

Pritchett finished first in the 100-yard breast, tagging in at 1:07.12, just 0.06 seconds before Centenary's Tripp Montgomery.

Borak, Myles Pickens and Brayden Reeves took the top three spots in the 50-yard free, with Borak earning the top spot in 23.79. Pickens and Reeves tagged in at 24.35 and 24.5, respectively.

Despite not competing against a Centenary swimmer, Isaiah Narvaez and Borak both improved on their previous times in the 1000-yard backstroke. Narvaez finished in 59.22, while Borak finished at 59.53. The pair also swam against one another in the 100-back, with Narvaez finishing first in 2:14.70.

Closing out the final event, Atkins, Reeves, Nigel Mason and Pritchett brought home the top slot in the 200-free relay in a time of 1:34.27.

On the women's side, the War Hawks were edged by the Ladies, 151-86.

Despite the final score, Lorin Mow continued her success in the 100-yard free, beating out two Ladies for a first-place finish with a time of 1:00.49. Mow also earned a close second place finish in the 200-yard fly (2:36.23).

Sophomore Cheyenne Lavender claimed the 500-free in 6:33.91.

Sophomore Melanie Jimenez improved on her previous 50-yard free swim two weeks ago, finishing second in 29.08.

Next up for McMurry swimming is the Trinity Invite on Nov. 19-21 in San Antonio, Texas.
