JACKSON, Miss. – McMurry University Volleyball opened its final road swing of the season with a 3-0 sweep of Belhaven University in American Southwest Conference action on Thursday night in Jackson, Miss.
The War Hawks (9-11, 7-10 ASC) have won two in a row following tonight's win. Additionally, McMurry earns its second sweep of the season and its first on the road.
Belhaven falls to 2-21 overall and 1-14 in the conference.

Summary: The War Hawk youth movement did the work in tonight's match, as freshmen
Allissa Rodriguez and
Ashlyn Quillan led with 10 kills and 16 assists, respectively. Sophomore
Brooke Cox added a team-high 15 digs and eight kills, while fellow sophomore
Madison Cuellar had a team-high four aces. Senior
Megan Martinez led with four blocks. As a team, McMurry had a 37-23 kill advantage and a 12-3 service ace advantage.
Set 1: After falling behind 4-1, McMurry scored 13 straight points and forced Belhaven to burn both of its timeouts early on – making it 14-4. In that run,
Madison Cuellar had four service aces. Six players had kills, including three from
Allissa Rodriguez and the final two from
Bri Garcia. McMurry had a 10-3 kill advantage in the set.
Set 2: The second set was much tighter early on, as both teams were tied 15-15 at one point. McMurry scored nine of the last 10 points to close it out. The War Hawks finished with 12 kills and just five errors for a .212 hitting percentage. Rodriguez had five kills, while
Aubrie Sibley added a pair of service aces at near the end of the set.
Set 3: Much like the second set, things started back-and-forth early on, but a pair of short runs allowed McMurry to breakaway to a 17-11 lead. McMurry led 24-18 to force set point, but the Blazers blazed back and scored five in a row to make it 24-23. The War Hawks finished things off with the final point on a Belhaven attack error. McMurry had a 15-13 kill advantage in the set.
