NOTES

LAST TIME OUT McMurry ran into a scorching hot Concordia team last Saturday, who shot 50 percent from the field (32-64) and 15-27 behind the arc for a 95-69 win. The War Hawks are looking to snap a six game losing skid this week.

SCOUTING THE BLAZERS Belhaven won its last two outings, defeating Louisiana College in a home-and-home series with 102-70 and 94-78 wins. The Blazers own the top scoring offense in the ASC with 79.6 points per game and lead the league in steals (16.8) and turnover margin (+9.95) to boot. Peyton Papenburg and Keke Lyles rank second and third in the ASC in scoring with 19.4 and 18.2 points per game, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY VS. BELHAVEN – McMurry owns a 3-1 record against Belhaven. Belhaven won the first contest in the 2015-16 season, but since McMurry officially rejoined the ASC in 2016-17, the War Hawks are a perfect 3-0 against the Blazers. McMurry has won both games in Kimbrell Arena, including a 77-74 win last season. Reyna had 18 points in that game.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS Lousiana College has lost four in a row and 11 of its last 12 games, averaging 61.9 points per game. Most of the team's production comes from ZyUnn Cormier, who averages 17.1 PPG. Cormier led the team with 22 points in the loss against McMurry back on Dec. 20, 2019.

SERIES HISTORY VS. LC – McMurry leads the all-time series with a 14-6 record. The War Hawks hosted LC in a non-conference game earlier this season, winning 87-72 in Kimbrell Arena. McMurry won nine straight games to open the series from 2000-01 to 2009-10. Louisiana College has won four of the last seven.

ROES TO GLORY With nine wins already and six games in hand, McMurry can still achieve its best season under fifth-year head coach Brittany Desnman-Roes. Her best season so far came in 2017-18, as the team finished with 13 wins and Densman-Roes was named ASC Coach of the Year.

WINNING THE BOARDS – The War Hawks have been powered by strong rebounding this season, ranking atop the ASC with 44.7 rebounds per game. Senior Skyler Reyna leads the ASC with 10.2 rebounds per contest.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE VISION – Reyna is the only player in the ASC averaging a double-double with 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest. Her scoring ranks sixth in the conference, while her rebounds lead the league. Furthermore, Reyna is the only ASC player above 10.0 RPG.

REYNA RECORD WATCH – A four-year standout for McMurry, senior Skyler Reyna ranks second on the all-time career rebound list at 885. She also ranks fifth all-time with 1,331 career points. Reyna needs 29 points to move into fourth place in career scoring. Recent McMurry Hall of Honor inductee Tarra Richardson Kersh (2004-08) holds both records with 1,015 rebounds and 2,164 points.

YOUTH MOVEMENT – McMurry has 14 freshmen and one junior transfer on the 2019-20 roster, joining the returning senior duo of Sarah Doherty and Skyler Reyna. The average age of the team is 19.25 years old.
