ABILENE, Texas – McMurry Women's Basketball matched a season-high in scoring with 87 points, earning its second straight American Southwest Conference win with an 87-82 victory over Sul Ross State on Saturday at Kimbrell Arena.

Mathews led the team with nine rebounds, while Reyna finished with seven.
In the high-scoring affair, both teams shot over 50.0 percent on field goals. McMurry (9-4, 2-3 ASC) finished shooting 55.9 percent, while Sul Ross (4-10, 2-3) made 54.2 percent. Free throws were also fairly even, but McMurry had two more three-point baskets to make the difference.
The first quarter saw seven lead changes each way, but the War Hawks would go on a 10-2 run to end the frame with momentum and a five-point lead. McMurry led by double-digits at one point in the second quarter, but the Lobos cut the lead to four at the half, 42-38.
With McM up four in the second half, Reyna and Mathews would begin to take over. Each of the two made a pair of baskets for an 8-0 run, re-extending the lead to double-digits. Sul Ross played catchup the rest of the way, but could never get back within one possession.
