SHERMAN, Texas – McMurry University Volleyball earned a pair of sweeps Friday evening at the Austin College Invitational, knocking off both LeTourneau University and Paul Quinn College. The 6-0 War Hawks wrap up the weekend Saturday at 10 a.m. versus Linfield College and at 4 p.m. against host Austin College.
McMurry 3, LeTourneau 0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-14)
After a back-and-forth first set that saw the War Hawks score the final three points en route to the three-set victory, the War Hawks turned up the heat in the second and third sets. After only hitting .154 in the first set, McMurry hit .385 and .400 in the second and third sets, respectively. The War Hawks finished the match hitting .295.
McMurry played very well defensively, as the Yellowjackets never hit above .100 in a set, hitting just .044, -.037 and .094 to hit .038 for the match. Senior libero

Jordyn Burnell each had 10 digs. Burnell also had 10 kills for a double-double.
At the net, the War Hawks had seven blocks, as freshman middle blocker
Elicia Jackson assisted on five and junior middle blocker
Kianni Mitchell assisted on four. Jackson also had eight digs and five kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
Junior setter
Emarie James had 19 assists for the War Hawks while sophomore setter
Lauryn Davis had 10. McMurry also had seven aces compared to two for the Yellowjackets.
Senior outside hitter
Jasmine Jones led the War Hawks with 11 kills, while Kianna Crow led LeTourneau with 12.
McMurry 3, Paul Quinn 0 (25-4, 25-11, 25-11)
The War Hawks were never challenged by the Tigers in winning their second match of the day. The War Hawks were able to get numerous players playing time in the sweep, the War Hawks' fourth of the season.
Junior middle blocker
Justice McGowan and Jackson each had six kills to lead the War Hawks, while freshman right side hitter
Tyler Richardson had five. McMurry out hit the Tigers .429 to -.230 on the evening.
Rodriguez tallied 10 digs to pace the War Hawks defensively, while sophomore defensive specialist
Mariah Shankle had six. Freshman setter
Myranda Salcedo dished out a team high 11 assists for the Hawks, while Davis had 10 helpers.
McMurry recorded 11 aces, seven from Rodriguez, and three blocks, as well. In the first set, the War Hawks scored 12 consecutive points to break a 1-1 tie.
