PINEVILLE, La. – McMurry University Men's Soccer suffered another hard fought loss Saturday, dropping an American Southwest Conference matchup at Louisiana College, 1-0.
After a weather delay late in the first half, both teams remained scoreless for much of the match. The Wildcats (3-9-1, 2-5-0 ASC) would then strike first in the 85th minute, as Ian Carter played a shot from the left side of the box into the bottom right corner of the net.
The War Hawks (3-5-3, 2-3-1 ASC) avoided a scare early in the second half, when sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Keane deflected a save, and the ensuing shot was high over an empty net. Keane finished the match with four saves.
The Wildcats outshot the War Hawks 16-12, and held the War Hawks to just one shot on goal while having five on goal themselves. Senior Aaron Webb led the War Hawks with three shots, while sophomore forward Jordan Sczech had the lone shot on goal.
Louisiana College had the game's only corner kick opportunity.
McMurry returns home for ASC action Thursday, hosting UT-Dallas at Wilford Moore Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
