Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Comets top War Hawks, 3-0

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Men's Soccer matched first-place University of Texas at Dallas for 70 minutes before the Comets struck, before pulling away for the 3-0 victory over the War Hawks Thursday night at Wilford Moore Stadium.

The War Hawks (3-6-3, 2-4-1 ASC) were the better team for much of the first half, outshooting the Comets (9-1-1, 7-0-0 ASC) 7-5, including 4-2 in shots on goal. McMurry was also quicker to the ball intercepting a number of Comet passes.

In a scoreless match in the 72nd minute, the Comets took advantage of a misplay by the War Hawks' defense to knock the ball from the short left of the box back to the right post for the first goal of the match.

Just 40 seconds later, the Comets added an insurance goal on a strike from 30-yards out for a 2-0 advantage. They would add one more in the 82nd minute for the final tally.

Five different War Hawks recorded a shot on goal, with junior midfielder Miguel Esteban Jr. leading McMurry with three shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Keane made five saves in net for the War Hawks.

McMurry is next slated to host Howard Payne University Saturday at 8 p.m.
