JACKSON, Miss. – McMurry University Men's Soccer was upended in American Southwest Conference play Thursday night, falling 1-0 on the road at Belhaven University.
The Blazers (3-6-2, 2-4-0 ASC) scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute, when forward Alex Hale put a penalty kick in the back of the net.
That would be the only shot on goal for the Blazers, as the War Hawks (3-4-3, 2-2-1 ASC) were otherwise stout on defense, and were not credited with a single save on the evening.
McMurry outshot Belhaven for the match, 7-5, including 3-1 in shots on goal. All three of the War Hawks' shots on goal came in the final 15 minutes of the match.
Each team committed 10 fouls in the match. McMurry had three corner kick opportunities to Belhaven's one.
The War Hawks resume play Saturday at Louisiana College at 2:30 p.m.
