ALPINE, Texas – Riding the crest of its first win of the young season, the McMurry University football team will travel to Sul Ross State University for its Saturday (6 p.m.) tilt at Jackson Field. The War Hawks will enter the game with a record of 1-2 and 1-1 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Lobos return to action for the first time in two weeks with a 1-1 overall ledger and 0-1 ASC record.

McMurry is coming off of a 33-21 victory in its ASC opener at home versus Howard Payne University last Saturday.  SRSU's last game was a 23-7 loss at No.-1 ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on September 9.

The game can be heard live in the Abilene area on KSLI 1280 AM, with the pre-game show beginning at 5:40 p.m.  David Bacon and Jason Feltz call the action.  The live audio – as well as video and statistics links – can be found via links at www.mcmurrysports.com.

GAME NOTES:
*This is the 886th football game in McMurry's history.  McM has an all-time record of 375-477-33 and in its 92nd season of football competition.

*This is the 87th meeting between these teams. McM leads the series, 45-39-2.

*At 87 meetings, SRSU is McM's most played and oldest (1923 first meeting) opponent for McMurry. It was the first year of football for both schools.

*LAST MEETING: McMurry University could not hold a fourth quarter lead, falling at the hands of Sul Ross State University in the 86th meeting between the schools, 35-21, in Abilene. The War Hawks surrendered 20 unanswered points to the Lobos in the fourth quarter. The Lobos jumped out to a 15-0 advantage, only to have McMurry overtake them - 21-15 - thanks to a defensive TD with just under 13 minutes left in the game. But it was all SRSU the rest of the way with the 20-point spree.
