Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – McMurry University's baseball team lost the series finale at the University of the Ozarks, falling 11-5 at Lonnie Qualls Field. The War Hawks fell to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Eagles improved to 6-8 on the year and 3-6 in the ASC.
McM starter
Mike Gonzales (0-3) took the loss. Gonzales gave up five of Ozarks' 12 hits and four earned runs. The Eagles scored three in the first and one in the second to chase Gonzales.
McMurry got two runs back in its half of the fourth.
Tyler Jenkins drew a leadoff walk and would eventually score on an error.
Noah Clarkson scored on a fielder's choice by
Jordan Speck to make it 4-2, with both McM runs unearned.
War Hawks reliever
Garrett Scudder tossed scoreless frames in the third and fourth, but in the fifth he hit a speedbump. Ozarks tallied seven runs in the inning, three charged to Scudder.
Reese Etter did not record an out and was charged with four runs after giving up a grand slam.
Chase Stone got the final out of the fifth and threw a scoreless sixth, as Ozarks took an 11-2 lead.
McM got closer in the seventh, with a three-run inning.
Taylor Ward leadoff and was hit by a pitch. With two out, Jenkins reached on a fielding error by the Eagles' first baseman.
Chris Baker single through shortstop to score Ward and Jenkins taking third. Clarkson also singles to short, as Jenkins scored and Baker moved up to second.
McM pinch hitter
Garrett Hurst then slapped a single to left, as Baker came in with the third run of the at-bats, 11-5.
Hunter Brooks and
John Eric Cortez also each had one scoreless inning of relief for McM.
McMurry had five hits in all for the day.
