ABILENE, Texas -  McMurry University's women's basketball team kept rolling along in Friday evening's non-conference matchup versus Texas Lutheran University, scoring a 58-42 win at Kimbrell Arena.  It marked the fifth-consecutive victory for the War Hawks (6-3) women, who never trailed versus the Bulldogs (2-5).

McM sophomore guard
Sarah Doherty might well have to check her cell phone plan, after her long distance efforts against TLU. Doherty went 6-of-11 from the field – all from beyond the three-point line – on her way to a game-leading 18 points.  She also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

In all, the War Hawks' team drained 10 treys in the game.

Senior guard
Sham Hunter had another of her all-around solid efforts, scoring 12 points and pulling down a game-high seven rebounds.  Hunter was 4-of-8 from the field, going 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, and hitting 2-of-2 from the free throw line. She also had a game-best four assists and made three steals.

Forward
Skyler Reyna was the team's third double-digit scorer, adding 10 points to the McM tally. Reyna hauled in six rebounds and had a career high (and game high) six steals.

Reyna led the tenacious McM defense that produced 19 steals and forced the Bulldogs into 29 turnovers.

Britney Beaver came off the McM bench to add six points.
Monica Jones booked five points,
Dominique Machuca and
Chyna Washington with three each, and
Mackenzie Kimball with one to round out the War Hawks' scoring.

McMurry led at the half, 22-17.  However, the War Hawks created separation in the third quarter, out-scoring the Bulldogs 23-11 in the period.

McM returns to American Southwest Conference action next Wednesday (Dec. 20) at the University of Texas-Dallas in Richardson.
