ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University's volleyball team won a showdown for second place in the American Southwest Conference West Division, knocking off Concordia University-Texas, 3-1, at Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks (19-7, 11-5 ASC) defeated the Tornados (13-11, 10-6 ASC) by set scores of 27-29, 25-14, 25-16, 25-23.

The win was the seventh-consecutive victory for McM, as well.

After losing the extended first set, the tandem of
Khristyn Howard and
Jordyn Burnell led McMurry's resurgence the rest of the way. Howard had a .320 attack average and rolled up 11 kills. Howard had four blocks and four digs.

Burnell had a team-best 12 kills and hit .241. She also had 12 digs and a service ace.

Justice McGowan and
Madison Reed each managed nine kills. McGowan had five blocks and Reed added a pair of blocks.
Jasmine Jones chipped in eight kills, as the War Hawks hit .214 for the match.

The McM setter tandem of
Emarie James and
Lauryn Davis has 23 and 21 assists, respectively. James also had 10 digs. James and Davis each served a pair of aces.

Odalis Rodriguez had a match-leading 22 digs.
Christian Brown made 12 digs from the back row, as well.

The War Hawks will be going for a 20-win season for the 10th time in school history on Friday when they host Arlington Baptist College at Kimbrell Arena. The non-conference match begins at 7:30 p.m.
