ABILENE, Texas - For the 10th time in its history, the McMurry University volleyball team reached the 20-win plateau, after knocking off Arlington Baptist University, 3-0, in a non-conference bout at Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks (20-7) defeated the Patriots (17-15) by set scores of 25-15, 28-26, 25-13.
Jordyn Burnell put together a nice effort once again, notching a game-high 10 kills. Burnell had 25 attack attempts, good for a .320 attack average. She also had 14 digs and served up an ace.
Sophomore middle blocker
Justice McGowan led all attackers with a .368 percentage. McGowan smacked eight kills in 19 attempts, with just one error. McGowan added three digs and three blocks, in addition to her efforts in helping the War Hawks to a .232 attack average as a team.
Freshman
Khristyn Howard knocked down seven kills.
Jasmine Jones and
Madison Reed had six kills, apiece. Each also chipped in a block assist.
Verlyncia Nelson had three block assists, to go along with her three kills. As a team, mcM had six total blocks, to just three by ABU.
Freshman setter
Lauryn Davis's 23 assists led the War Hawks. Fellow setter, sophomore
Emarie James, added 16 assists. James had six digs and Davis four. Each also had two service aces.
Junior libero
Odalis Rodriguez booked 16 digs in pacing the McMurry team. Rodriguez also gave off three assists.
The War Hawks will close out the regular season at home on Saturday (12 p.m.) with another non-conference contest, this time versus Dallas Christian College.
