War Hawks and Lions are Weather-Beaten

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University and Langston University endured a 2 hour, 18 minute lightning delay midway through the second quarter, before the Mother Nature claimed a "win" and the two teams received a "no contest."  With 7:45 left to play in the second – and the Lions ahead of the War Hawks, 16-0, the first lightning was detected and never subsided before the game was called off.

LU scored on the opening possession of the game, driving 86 yards in 15 plays. The PAT kick made it 7-0 with 5:32 left in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lions had a 29-yard field goal and had just added a touchdown on a 20-yard run by Kievon Jackson. The lightning flash came before the extra point attempt, 16-0.

Defensively, Reagan Miller and Decorian Johnson had each accumulated five tackles before play was halted. Johnson also had a forced fumble.
