McM Volleyball Brings the Broom versus Hardin-Simmons, 3-0

 
ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's volleyball team ran its current win streak to four matches by sweeping crosstown foe Hardin-Simmons University, 3-0, before a crowd of 673 at Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks (7-3, 2-0 ASC) topped the Cowgirls (4-6, 1-1 ASC) by scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-13 to remain unbeaten in the American Southwest Conference.
 
McMurry's front line of Jordyn Burnell, Baylie Barnes and Katy Headrick combined for 22 0f the War Hawks' 36 kills.  Burnell had eight kills in 15 attempts, with just two errors, for a healthy .400 attack percentage.
 
Barnes and Headrick had seven kills each.  Barnes had a .278 attack average in 18 attempts. Headrick did not have an error in 14 attempts, for a .500 attack average. Headrick added six digs and a block.
 
Jasmine Jones and Justice McGowan had two blocks each. The defensive chores were led by 17 digs from libero Odalis Rodriguez. Emarie James and Madison Fatheree had seven digs apiece, while also setting up the McM attack with 13 and 12 assists, respectively.
 
Each team served up six aces in the match. The War Hawks were led by a pair of aces from Fatheree, with Barnes, Headrick, James and Rodriguez with one each.
 
As a team, McMurry had a .286 attack average, reflected by just 34 digs by the Cowgirls.  Conversely, HSU hit just .147 for the match and was a minus-.091 in the third set.
