AUSTIN, Texas – McMurry University volleyball battled Concordia University-Texas for five sets, eventually falling, 3-2, on the road. The War Hawks (16-9, 8-6 ASC) lost by set scores of 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 25-19, 9-15 to the Tornados (10-13, 5-9 ASC).
Both teams hit well in the match, with McM posting better attack average than CUTX (.296 to .253). However, the Tornados registered 31 more attacks and 18 more kills than did the War Hawks.
Baylie Barnes led McMurry with 12 kills and a .286 attack average. Barnes was the only McM player with double figure kills, while CUTX had three players with 16 or more kills.
McMurry senior
Katy Headrick had nine kills and seven blocks in the match.
Jordyn Burnell added eight kills and hit a sterling .438 for the evening. Burnell also had nine digs and three blocks.
Freshman
Justice McGowan had another solid match with seven kills and a .316 attack average. McGowan managed four blocks, as well.
Freshman setter
Emarie James had 24 assists, while
Madison Fatheree gave 18 helps. James chipped in six digs and Fatheree served two aces.
Libero
Odalis Rodriguez had 19 of her team's 51 digs.
