ABILENE, Texas -  McMurry University men's soccer dropped a crosstown battle versus Hardin-Simmons Unive3rsity, 3-0, at Wilford Moore Stadium. The match was also the final home contest for the War Hawks' (3-8-2, 2-4-2 ASC) lone senior, John Alsides.
 
The teams were locked in a scoreless tussle for the first 36 minutes. But the Cowboys finally broke through in the 37th minute and take then 1-0 lead. HSU added another goal in the final 90 seconds of the half, to carry a 2-0 advantage into the locker room.
 
Hardin-Simmons netted a penalty kick goal in the 83rd minute for the 3-0 final score.
 
Both teams took a total of 11 shot attempts.  HSU put eight on goal, while the War Hawks put five tries on frame. McM goalkeeper Alex Chavez had five save, as did HSU net-minder Michael Vargas.
 
Mike Cruz had six of McMurry's shot attempts, putting three on-goal. Martin Ornelas had two shots.
