War Hawk Men Fall in Opener

PLAINVIEW, Texas – The McMurry men's soccer team ran into a buzz saw for its 2015 season opener, losing to perennial NAIA power Wayland Baptist University, 6-0, at Hillard Field. The Pioneers improved to 2-0 by topping the War Hawks (0-1).
 
WBU held a big advantage in total shot attempts, as well. Wayland took 30 shots, with 12 on goal.  McM had six shots, overall. The hosts scored three times in each half.
 
McMurry goalkeeper Austin Long – making his debut as a War Hawk – had six saves.
 
Julio Alfaro took three of McMurry's shot attempts. Kyle Riese had two and Matt Hernandez one shot to account for the War Hawks attack.
 
The War Hawks will make their home debut with new head coach Chris LeFevre on Saturday (Sept. 5) evening (7:30 p.m.) versus Jarvis Christian.
