Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas – McMurry University men's soccer took on UT Dallas - the nation's No. 13-ranked team for NCAA III – and came out on the short end of a 3-0 decision. The Comets improved to 9-1-1, while the War Hawks fell to 1-9.
The nationally-ranked Comets tallied two early goals – both by Daaron McFarling – in the 2nd and 8th minutes, in rolling up the 2-0 halftime lead. McMurry's best chance for a score in the contest came in the first-half (in the 31st minute). Senior
Michael von Ende-Becker sent a corner kick in front of the goal and freshman Joshua Erwin attempted a header that was saved by the Comets' Tyler Cotter.
The War Hawks were able to keep the Comets at bay for most of the second period, as well. However, with McM pressing as the waning minutes ticked off, UTD was able to net an additional score in the 89th minute, making it the 3-0 final score.
For the match, UT Dallas out-shot McM by a 26-to-3 count and also held a large advantage in corner kicks (11-1).
